Social Programs
Viva Palestina Midlands Humanitarian Aid Convoy Charity’s Social Program aims to improve the standard of living of Palestines living in West Bank Gaza. It does this by providing and sourcing financial assistance for individuals and community groups at the numerous Palestine settlements spread across the country.
Many people and community groups appeal to the Charity for help but VPMHAC believes it isn’t enough to wait on other people, they also have a duty to go out and find out where help is needed. In accordance with that commitment VPMHAC staff make periodic visits to all the Palestine settlements in Gaza and remain in regular contact with the authorities administering them.
The Charity carries out its’ mandate through 2 programs, the ‘Community Development Project’ and the ‘Adopt a Grandparent Scheme’. Both make provision for supporting individual people in need, but the ‘Community Development Program’ goes further and funds schemes that benefit whole groups of people.
The Community Development Project
Responds to project proposals from within the settlements. An improvement in community life is brought about through investment in infrastructure and the provision of welfare services for the sick and aged.
The Adopt a Grandparent scheme
Is a way to provide ageing Palestines who are not in a position to earn money, with extra income. The ongoing donations provided by sponsors are spent on essential requisites and medical costs. The recipients are thereby assured a minimum standard of living for the rest of their lives. |
